If you would like to volunteer in the classroom, you MUST have a tuberculosis (TB) test that is no older than four years. Proof of TB copies must be given to the office so that it can be kept on file. Volunteers must also remember to sign in the office everytime before coming into the classroom for safety reasons, and there is also a volunteer pin that must be worn so that the school knows you are a volunteer. Volunteers need to be very committed throughout the entire year. If you are unable to come (i.e. if your child is sick), please find another parent to take your place for that day. Thank you! We need: - Room Parents (times vary) I need two room parents to coordinate holiday parties and special activities among all student families. The room parents will help to organize volunteers or donations before field trips and events. He/she should be comfortable using email and is able to keep track of different families. - Library Helper (Every Monday) from 11:00-12:00 I need one volunteer to help check-in and out books in the library. This parent will also check homework journals to make sure it is completed, and will prepare homework packets. - Music Helpers (Tuesdays - twice a month) from 10:55-11:40am I need about two-three volunteers to help the music teacher, Ms. Disney, with managing students as they sing and dance! These volunteers will participate in the activities and help students follow directions. - Computer Lab (Every Wednesday from 11:40am-12:20pm) Three-Four volunteers will help Mrs. Yu during weekly computer lab sessions. He or she will help all the students with technology projects and should be familiar with basic computer skills such as saving or printing. - Art Helpers (Thursday - once a month) from 10:55-11:40am I need about three-four volunteers to help the art teacher, Mrs. Abada with projects each month. These volunteers will circulate among the class to help all the students complete their projects. - Friday Helpers (Every Friday from 9:00-10:35am for AM parents, or 1:10-3:05pm for PM parents.) I would like to have one or two parents for each morning and afternoon small group session on Fridays. These volunteers will help to prep materials such as cutting, gluing, filing, or assembling materials. Most of the time, they will be assigned to a small group of students to help with Friday Fun Centers. These volunteers should be comfortable leading and managing a group of 5-6 students. - Friday Folder Helper (Every Friday) from 11:00-11:45am I need one volunteer to file papers from the week into students' daily folder. - Assisting on an "as needed" basis (not weekly, but occassionally for special events, activites, field trips, etc.). |
