Each week, students are given art projects that are integrated with the content we are learning.  They also have opportunities to engage in dramatic play by acting out literature stories or making puppet shows.  We are fortunate to have Ms. Laura Abada, our art teacher, once a month on Thursday mornings from 10:55am - 11:40am.  The students  learn about influential artists in the past, and use different mediums in their art projects.  The students get to work with different mediums such as crayons, markers, paint, clay, pastels, etc.

The district curriculum is based on the Visual and Performing Arts Content Standards for California Public Schools. CUSD encourages the integration of instruction in the visual and performing arts as a means of bringing all other parts of the curriculum to life as well as giving students a sense of connection to other people, cultures, and history. Exploration and appreciation for the creative process is promoted to build student confidence as they develop skills and expand abstract thinking as a part of their daily lives.
